Downtown Akron Partnership’s Juneteenth celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 22 from 3-7 p.m. at Cascade Plaza.
AKRON, Ohio – The Downtown Akron Partnership is hosting a family-friendly Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 22 from 3-7 p.m. at Cascade Plaza, located at 1 Cascade Plaza in the city’s downtown.
Admission is free for the event, which commemorates Juneteenth National Independence Day. Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the U.S. The day was declared a federal holiday in 2021.The celebration is open to people of all ages and features live performances, free activities, crafts and games for kids, and a business fair featuring downtown Akron Black-owned businesses.At 7 p.m.
Saturday’s celebration is being held as scheduled, according to Downtown Akron Partnership Communications Director Dominic Caruso.
