The head of the group in charge of development and growth in Downtown Jacksonville says the City Council’s efforts to intervene are responsible for more delays in long-awaited projects.
– until the City Council decides how the agency will operate.Boyer discussed her concerns at a DIA meeting on Monday when the group gathered to talk about the agency’s budget and redevelopment priorities for Downtown.After several failed negotiations between the DIA and developers, the City Council formed a Special Committee on the Future of Downtown Development to take a look at how the DIA operates and determine if adjustments need to be made.
Boyer said the DIA needs for more funding and direct access to more developers so that downtown projects can be completed sooner.
