Students from various New Jersey colleges attended the 2nd Annual Journalist Day event Friday. The program was co-hosted by NJ.com’s Diversity, Education & Inclusion committee and Rutgers University’s School of Communication and Information.Students from Seton Hall University, Bloomfield College of Montclair State and Rutgers University-Newark join students from Rutgers-New Brunswick for an immersive day of journalism at the college in New Brunswick.

“I just wanted to say how impactful this event was and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of it,” Lisha Brito, a Bloomfield University student said after the event. “Journalism Day is important to me because I want to do my part to ensure that the next generation of journalists reflects the diversity of our New Jersey communities and of our country,” said Calavia-Robertson, a member of NJ.com’s DE&I Journalism Day subcommittee and host of two workshops and Griffith’s interview.

The day ended with finalists for the photo contest: Jenna Park, Lily Tea and Kyle Handojo showing their photos to the audience. Handojo won the contest and received a $100 gift card, runners up Tea and Park received $25 gift cards.
