The goal is to rebalance the population in districts based on the most recent census.
According to state law, the districts are supposed to be as even in population as possible. That is not the case with the current district map. Right now, District 4 has 33,000 more people than District 2.
Some community leaders are worried that the redistricting plan will dilute the voices of underrepresented communities. "The process started last year," Aaron Thompson, general council with Denver Public Schools said. There were a number of community meeting all over the city. I think we had a meeting with the BFACT . We've also had a number of survey's. Survey's are out now as they were last year. So there've been a number of efforts to reach out to the community and also specifically the black community.

The board plans to vote on the new redistricting plan on Thursday, April 18.
