A pitch inspection took place this morning at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise, where the match was scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but it was decided to reschedule the game for next Saturday at the same venue.
As it stands, the other SFC semi-final between Cuala and Coolera-Strandhill is still set to go ahead tomorrow at Kingspan Breffni Park, reports the Irish Mirror. GAA bosses are keeping a close eye on the weather situation with regards to several fixtures taking place over the weekend, as the current cold snap is predicted to continue into next week.
Met Éireann have issued a 24-hour orange snow and ice warning for eight counties from 5pm on Saturday, including Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick, Offaly, Laois and Tipperary. A GAA statement read: "Following a pitch inspection of Laois Hire O'Moore Park this morning the AIB All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final between Dr. Crokes and Errigal Ciarán which was due to be played tomorrow, Sunday, January 4, has been postponed. The match has been re-fixed for next Saturday, January 11, with Laois Hire O'Moore Park the venue once again. The CCCC will confirm the throw-in time on Monday.
"Note: due to the current weather forecast, the GAA will monitor the pitches over the weekend. Any further changes will be notified as soon as possible."
