At 11-kilometres beneath the surface, 'The Challenger Deep' is the deepest known part of the ocean, located off the coast of Micronesia Marine scientist Dr Nicole Yamase braved the dive two years ago, making her the first Micronesian and Pacific Islander to make the journey down, as well as the second youngest at 29.
