“It is at times like these that we can often get into a negative cycle of thinking – we can give up on our dream or, even worse, on ourselves.” Dr Radha on how to let go of control, and trust the timing in life
We are wired to try to control and to get impatient if things don’t happen now
Timing in life is everything. It plays a massive role in how, or if, things move forward in our lives, if the things that we want come to us and if the path we thought would open up for us does. It is a fundamental in our lives and yet, frustratingly, one that we cannot control most of the time.– you have all the elements required in place, everything feels right and like it is on the precipice of happening and then, it just doesn’t.
It is at times like these that we can often get into a negative cycle of thinking – we can give up on our dream or, even worse, on ourselves. Feeling like this is ok; in fact it is normal. But, if we let this defeat or define us and we don’t try again, then that can become the dominant narrative of the story of our lives. One of the hardest things that we can do is to let go and trust the timing of the events that happen in our lives.
However hard it might be to let go and trust the timing of life, there are good reasons why we should try to.If you are feeling low mentally and emotionally it can be all too easy to slip into the story of “because it hasn’t happened now, it will never happen”. But who is to say that is true? And who is to say that when it eventually happens, that it won’t be better than it would have been if it had happened according to your timeline? We never know this.
We also don’t know if maybe there are other elements that will mean it is even more successful, even more joyful and even more impactful. Just like when we force someone else to do something they don’t want, they are less likely to want to do it, or just like when flowers are picked too soon they don’t bloom as beautifully or at all, so when we try and stamp our foot and “make something happen now” it doesn’t go as well.
