While weather may have put a damper on Day 1 of Smokin’ the River City in Moss Point, plenty turned out to pick up where they left off on Saturday.

The festival brings thousands to enjoy local vendors, food, music, and the highlight of the event — drag boat racing. The event has been a tradition since the 1940s, and organizers say they always look forward to the weekend fun. “We sweated all day yesterday, but look how clear it is today now,” said organizer Sue Wright. “We think tomorrow is going to be even better. This is a two-day event, so look for brighter sunshine tomorrow. We have food, fun, fellowship, friends . . . it’s an awesome time.
