Detectives investigating the mysterious death of a renowned drag queen in 2023 have released images of three men who were present at a flat in Soho on the night of the incident. Heklina , whose real name was Steven Grygelko, was found deceased at the age of 55 on April 3, 2023, by her friend and fellow touring drag queen Peaches Christ inside a flat on Soho Square in London .
On the morning of April 3, police were alerted by the London Ambulance Service to the property following reports of an unresponsive man. Heklina was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified by authorities. The performer's death is being treated as unexpected and remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police almost two years later.The force is now appealing to the three men who were at the flat on the night to come forward with any information they may possess that could assist in solving the mystery surrounding Heklina's death. Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis, from the Central West Command Unit, stated, 'Our thoughts are with Steven's family and friends who still have a lot of unanswered questions about what happened to him. We know that the three men in the CCTV images were at the flat in the early hours of 3 April 2023. The stage name originates from the volcano Hekla in southern Iceland. Heklina achieved legendary status in the San Francisco drag scene in 1996 for hosting the popular weekly series now known as Mother, which attracted stars like Lady Gaga and Charro. The star emceed and performed numerous times at San Francisco's Pride events and co-owned the drag venue Oasis in the city in 2015. Heklina notably portrayed Dorothy Zbornak in a successful drag production of The Golden Girls and appeared in the 2010 independent parody feature Baby Jane? She was also one of the co-founders of the long-running drag show Trannyshack which commenced at The Stud Bar in San Francisco during the mid-1990s
