The Kings' youthful energy, athleticism and audacity have finally grabbed the Warriors by the ankle. Draymond Green kicked up some fury in Game 2. Now the Warriors have to use it to their advantage the rest of the series, writes ThompsonScribe.
If there is a good thing to come from Green’s ejection — presuming he isn’t suspended, whichis unlikely — it’s the declaration of battle, bringing a potential to muck up this series. Nobody does that better than Green. Now the spotlight of a basketball nation, a frantic social media presence, endless takes and pontifications, and no doubt watchful referees, will turn up the heat in this series. It could be the Warriors’ best hope to get the Kings off their game.
“I thought we were competing,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “But they played better than we did down the stretch. I thought they were more physical. It was an incredibly physical game. A lot of physicality. Not much movement. Not much freedom of movement out there. So they were the aggressors, and I thought they benefited from being the aggressor.”
“You’ve got to embrace it,” Curry said. “You do this as long as we have, 28 series or whatever, and we’ve never been in this situation. So you’ve got to stay together, stay locked in on things we need to do better, embrace the challenge of protecting our home court — which we’ve done great all year. … That’s the old saying. The series doesn’t start until somebody wins on the other team’s home floor.
