Study says inflight alcohol and cabin pressure can threaten sleeping passengers’ heart condition.

A new study reveals that the combination of inflight alcohol consumption and cabin pressure can pose a significant threat to the heart health of sleeping passengers.

This combination is dangerous and not recommended, as it significantly lowers blood oxygen levels, also called SpO2. It can also raise the heart rate for a long period of time, and can affect anyone of any age.A recent study states that the higher the consumption of alcohol, the more negative effects. The elderly might be the most affected, particularly those who already have pre-existing medical conditions.

Participants consumed the equivalent of two cans of beer or two glasses of wine in pure vodka at 11:15 PM. Their sleep cycle, SpO2, and heart rate were continuously monitored until 4 AM.
