Massachusetts State Police say a Shrewsbury man fled a traffic stop in Worcester before intentionally hitting a police vehicle that was chasing him in Millbury, fleeing west on I-90 eastboundA driver who fled a traffic stop in Worcester allegedly hit a state trooper's vehicle before driving the wrong way down the Massachusetts Turnpike.
State police say a 21-year-old Shrewsbury man, whose name was not released, is believed to have been driving a black Chevrolet Cruze when he drove away from a Worcester Police officer Friday morning. Moments later, around 10:15 a.m., a trooper spotted the vehicle on the Route 20 connector in Millbury.
The trooper, who was driving a 2017 Ford F250 pickup truck, put his lights and siren on, police said. The driver didn't stop, going onto Interstate 90. "While being pursued, the suspect abruptly applied his brakes, spun the vehicle around, and intentionally struck the Trooper's cruiser," a state police spokesperson said in a statement.More troopers and the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing helicopter searched, but did not find the driver.
According to police, there are five active warrants, including two felonies and three misdemeanors, for the driver. His license and his vehicle's registration are suspended.
