Marcus Jermain Sims was charged with battery in June 2019, October 2019, and 2021; and he's facing new charges from the recent chase, April 14, 2024. "I saw a vehicle rapidly approaching me and it was weaving through cars," a sheriff's deputy in Florida wrote while monitoring traffic in the middle of the night.
He tried pulling a traffic stop but the driver, his arrest report said, “continued to increase its speed in an attempt to flee for me.” They approached, saw the driver get out, and reported he “began to flee on foot westbound through a wooded area.“After a short foot pursuit, the male was apprehended in a swampy area by K9 Murphy via dog bite.”
“I later informed Marcus that when the vehicle initially fled, a deputy was able to see that there was only one occupant inside, and Marcus was seen fleeing from inside the vehicle.”
