A Merseyrail train driver made an impassioned plea to commuters during a packed morning journey. Passengers on board the rush-hour train heading from Hunts Cross into Liverpool city centre this morning faced some difficult, cramped conditions. With an earlier service cancelled, the morning train was extremely busy with people, with commuters wedged into any space they could find.
While the cancellation of one of the two key rush hour services on the route from south Liverpool into the city centre was always likely to have a knock on effect, the situation on board will have led to many commuters asking when the larger, eight-car versions of Merseyrail's new fleet of trains will be entering service to hopefully alleviate such scenes in the future.
