David Sinar, 64, was doing 40mph when Amber Potter’s Vauxhall Corsa ploughed into him.
Amber Potter had been texting and taking selfies before ploughing into the back of David Sinar’s motorcycle This is the winking selfie a woman took moments before her car hit a motorscooter rider. Amber Potter, 23, was sending a string of messages behind the wheel prior to crashing into David Sinar, 64, on September 15, 2021. She was so distracted by her phone during the drive from Glastonbury to Norfolk that skid marks proved she did not attempt to brake while driving at 70mph.
Police have since released the selfie Potter had zoomed in on her phone before the crash However, CCTV from a garage proved this to be a lie. Judge Katharine Moore told her: ‘He was there for all drivers to see – all those who had their eyes on the road that is.’ She described her sending messages and selfies as ‘gravely inappropriate’ and had caused a ‘grossly avoidable distraction’. Police have since released the selfie, which she had zoomed in on on her phone moments before the crash.
