A court heard that Rashid Javed , 38, did not know what had happened when he struck and killed Michelle Barlow , 41, last summer near a Tesco superstore in Stretford . Javed, who had tears in the dock, apologized to Barlow's family. After the collision, Javed drove through a red light and left the scene. He returned 33 minutes later in a different vehicle. Barlow had been crossing Chester Road when she was hit by Javed's Audi A8, then struck by another car. She died in the hospital an hour later.
Javed was charged only for his behavior after the collision, not for causing it. His lawyer said Javed was checking his mirrors and didn't realize he had hit someone until he was about to go through the red light
