A common mistake could result in a £100 fine and three points on your driving licence

As motorists grapple with wintry conditions, one persistent annoyance emerges - a foggy windscreen. Not only is it bothersome, but it could also land you in hot water financially.

Driving without a clear line of sight due to fog or ice on your windows could lead to a £100 penalty and earn you three points on your driving licence. Thankfully, a straightforward and economical hack exists to keep your windshield clear - simply use some shaving cream, reports the Express. Liam Spencer of Northallerton Glass shared: "The shaving foam adds a semi-permanent barrier to the windscreen, which prevents water droplets from forming." He added, "Although this barrier isn't permanent and will need to be re-applied, it will make the windscreen less likely to become foggy.”

Furthermore, he warned, "Driving with foggy windows or a foggy windshield can be dangerous as it reduces visibility and can increase the risk of accidents. If you do not have the time to slowly warm up the inside of your car to reduce the fog, shaving foam is a great, budget-friendly solution this winter if you do not want to invest in expensive, specialist products.

Also, be careful not to let the shaving foam come into contact with your car's paintwork, as it could cause damage.
