UK drivers warned about car mirror issues that could lead to MOT failure and hefty retest fees
Drivers are being cautioned about a mirror issue that could result in a £109 charge on their MOT. The annual MOT test, costing £54.85, is mandatory for all UK drivers with vehicles older than three years and can lead to additional expenses if issues are found.
Chris Jevons, Commercial Director at JTAPE*, is offering advice on crucial mirror checks that drivers should perform to stay safe on the roads and potentially avoid an MOT failure, which could cost £109 - £54.85 for the failed MOT and another £54.85 to re-test it once repaired.
Therefore, it's advisable to check your mirrors every few months, particularly if you suspect they might have been hit. Strong mounting tape can be used to secure a loose mirror and keep it in place. If the mechanisms are not working, this could mean that maximum visibility isn't achievable, which can be hazardous when changing lanes, turning corners and looking out for hazards.
