The cold weather is set to continue and drivers are being urged to prepare their cars for the icy conditions
Every driver knows the significance of washer fluid with many of us keeping it topped up consistently, but did you know that the dilution ratio is key and how much you put in depends on what time of year?
The expert said:"Too much water could end up freezing your windscreen washer system, as dilution ratios for winter weather are completely different from the summer." The auto specialist said that following the instructions on the bottle is a basic step to avoiding this but that you should also check you're using the right amount of water.
They said that to prevent freezing you should consult the suggested dilution ratios but a good rule to follow is"to ensure your solution is more concentrated during the winter period." The auto expert also said it's worth preparing an SOS snow kit and recommended packing it with high-vis jackets, blankets, a shovel, a portable charger, a tow rope and towing eye.
They also shared other important tips such as checking your tyres regularly and checking your wipers for tears.
