Iestyn Raven, a 24-year-old drug dealer, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after being caught on camera boasting about his wealth while claiming Universal Credit.

A drug dealer who boasted about his wealth while claiming benefits has been jailed. Iestyn Raven, 24, was caught on camera wearing gold necklaces and flashy bracelets as he called Universal Credit, claiming he was struggling financially. In the video, Raven laughs and says he hasn't received his payment and is 'skint'. He then picks up a bundle of cash, pretending to use it as a phone.

Raven ran the 'Ronnie and Reggie' drug line, supplying crack cocaine and heroin in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. He was arrested by South Wales Police in September after officers traced him through CCTV footage of him topping up data for one of his drug line phones. During a raid of Raven's home, police found the drug phone, along with crack cocaine, heroin, cash, and designer clothing. Raven pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, as well as acquiring criminal property. He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court. Detective Inspector Tim Jones stated that Raven was making significant money from drug dealing and living a luxurious life at the expense of others. He emphasized Raven's lack of remorse for the harm he caused and stated that he deserved to be imprisoned to reflect on his actions. Jones also assured that authorities would utilize the Proceeds of Crime Act to ensure Raven doesn't benefit from his ill-gotten gains upon release. This isn't Raven's first encounter with the justice system. In 2018, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for stabbing a 17-year-old and assaulting him with a baseball bat. In 2020, he escaped from HMP Prescoed in Wales after arguing with his girlfriend about cheating and wanting to see his father who had Covid. He was recaptured 36 hours later and received an additional four months on his sentence
