The dealer, identified as Iestyn Raven, was recorded telling a benefits call operator that he hadn't received his payment and was struggling financially. He then pleaded with the operator to inform him of his appointment date. During the call, Raven was seen switching between the phone and stacks of cash, feigning financial hardship.
However, his jovial demeanor quickly vanished when he was arrested. Police apprehended Raven after he was caught on CCTV topping up data for one of the phones he used to manage his drug operation. A subsequent search of his property led to the seizure of crack cocaine, heroin, a significant amount of cash, and high-value designer clothing. Detective Inspector Tim Jones stated that Raven was profiting substantially from his drug dealing and leading a comfortable lifestyle. He criticized Raven's blatant disregard for the harm he was causing, emphasizing that his current predicament serves as a consequence for his actions.Raven's case highlights the deceptive nature of some individuals who engage in illegal activities while simultaneously exploiting public assistance systems.
