Two East Midlands dealers were caught dealing Class A drugs in South Wales. The court heard that one of the men was on licence after being convicted for similar offenses the previous year.
Hakim Collace from Loughborough and Alex Amanuel from Nottingham were apprehended by police in South Wales for their involvement in Class A drug dealing. A court heard that Amanuel was on licence following a previous conviction for similar offenses in Lincolnshire. They were discovered after an anonymous tip led police to a suspected drug deal at flats in Swansea.
CCTV footage captured two men, later identified as Collace and Amanuel, exchanging packages with a known drug user before fleeing the scene. Police soon located the defendants in a car near the Mumbles seafront.During a search of Amanuel's temporary residence in Swansea, officers found 118 grams of crack cocaine packaged for street sale, 4.2 grams of heroin, £940 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. A confiscated phone was identified as a 'Tesco Petroleum' drugs line used to communicate with potential buyers. When questioned, Amanuel remained silent, while Collace claimed he was in Swansea to attend an 'open day,' and that he had gone to Mumbles to have a drink, smoke, and enjoy the sea air.Amanuel, 30, admitted to being involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, possession of both drugs with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property. He also had a history of convictions, including participating in a large-scale county lines operation that trafficked drugs from Nottingham to Lincolnshire. He was sentenced to 50 months imprisonment for this previous offense and was on licence when arrested in Wales. Collace, 26, was convicted at trial for being concerned in the supply of cocaine. He received a three-year prison sentence.
