Taylor Hanlon lost control of his high-powered Subaru vehicle in West Lothian with passengers Connor Elgey, 19, and Troi Lawton, 23, pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A drug-fuelled driver who killed two young men after driving at speeds of up to 111mph is being sued for compensation. Taylor Hanlon lost control of the high-powered Subaru vehicle on the A706 near Kepscaith Farm in West Lothian on August 29, 2020.

A spokesman said: “I can confirm a legal action has been raised against Hanlon. The crash he was responsible for resulted in life-changing injuries for the survivors and profound losses for the bereaved families who lost loved ones. Mr McKenna added: "The speed limit is set at 60mph. Hanlon was recorded travelling at a speed of approximately 111mph." One witness recalled hearing "wheels screeching". The court heard he continued to go over the limit as the men neared Kepscaith Farm.

"The car landed in an adjacent field and repeatedly overturned before coming to a stop upside down." Troi and two other passengers were flung from the Subaru as it rolled. During sentencing, Lord Mulholland also slapped Hanlon with a 16 year and 10 month driving ban. He told the killer driver: “The car was powerful and high performance. Such a vehicle requires responsible driving, but yours was anything but.
