A holidaymaker attacked his partner on a weekend break to Blackpool.

Timothy Igo, 25, was staying at the Arncliffe Hotel in the resort when he launched the sickening attack on the woman. His partner was left with a swollen black eye, scratches to her throat and bruises to her arms, Preston Crown Court heard.

The owner met Igo's girlfriend and immediately saw her injuries. She called 999 and the police arrived. Police located Igo on Squires Gate Lane and arrested him. He told officers he did not remember what had happened or that his partner was injured. Niamh Ingham, defending, told the court Igo was disgusted by his behaviour towards his partner and has stopped drinking since it happened. She described the attack as "impulsive and spontaneous".
