A 29-year-old airline passenger faces serving time behind bars after his drunken behaviour saw a flight from Glasgow to Antalya make an emergency landing in Newcastle.
A drunken airline passenger who spilled alcohol over a young girl and caused a 17-hour flight delay faces the possibility of serving time in jail.
Directing a homophobic slur towards one air steward, Rae told staff that he was being picked on for being a straight man. James Rae, 29, pleaded guilty at Newcastle Magistrates Court to entering an aircraft drunk in May earlier this year Speaking before Newcastle Magistrates Court, Rehana Haque, prosecuting, said that Rae 'smelt intoxicated' and had been drinking spirits purchased in duty free whilst on the flight.
The court also heard how Rae was 'banging' his head against the seat in front of him, causing alcohol to be spilled over a little girl.
