The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has awarded the City Government of Borongan as the 4th most improved component city for 2021 nationwide during the 9th Cities and Municipalities Index (CMCI) Search of Competitiveness Bureau.

TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry has awarded the City Government of Borongan as the 4th most improved component city for 2021 nationwide during the 9th Cities and Municipalities Index Search of Competitiveness Bureau.

“This is a program that encourages LGUs to gather and submit data that will be used to measure the performance of the five Competitive Pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resilience, and Innovation,” Bato shared. Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda attributed the award to the collective participation of each department under the City Government of Borongan.

Agda stressed that the award is a huge milestone for the city after being at the bottom rank for three consecutive years – rank 109th in 2018, rank 105th in 2019, and rank 104th in 2020 – before ranking 4th in 2021.
