DTM championship leader Sheldon van der Linde and title rival Thomas Preining have both been hit with 10-place grid penalties for today's Hockenheim race.
Van der Linde had set the sixth-quickest time in qualifying earlier on Saturday morning, just over two tenths down on pole-sitter and championship rival Lucas Auer, but he will now take the start from 16th on the grid.
The outfit has a right to appeal the decision but it’s unclear if it will pursue with the option available to it as per DTM regulations and Article 15.1.5 of the FIA International Sporting Code.
