The former Everton and Rangers striker was sentenced to three months behind bars.
Duncan Ferguson became the first and only professional player in Britain to be jailed for an on-field offence when he headbutted an opponent in 1994.
In total, he was sentenced to three months in jail, with the prison sentence being his third conviction for assault. "It was wrong me being there, it wasn't fair," he said. "I shouldn't have been in there and I think a lot of people understood that. It's not as if I was in for doing anything bad really. My God, it was nothing.
Ferguson added: "I got all the letters when I was in there and obviously you have got a lot of time on your hands when you're in there to read through them all.Back in 2019, McStay also spoke about the Ferguson headbutt incident during an interview, where he opened up about his battle with depression following the clash in 1994.

Duncan Norvelle's Family Feuds With Girlfriend Over Funeral ArrangementsThe funeral of beloved comedian Duncan Norvelle is overshadowed by a bitter family dispute with his longtime partner, Linda Trevallion. Norvelle's family alleges that he and Trevallion separated over a year ago, while Trevallion maintains they were together until his death. The conflict stems from Trevallion's role as executor of Norvelle's will, giving her control over his funeral arrangements. Norvelle's family accuses Trevallion of 'hijacking' the funeral, making unilateral decisions without their input. They claim she excluded Mary, Norvelle's mother, from choosing songs or pictures, and even omitted her acknowledgment in the order of service. In response, Norvelle's family has organized their own wake at a local pub, asserting it will be a more fitting tribute. Despite the accusations, Trevallion stands by her relationship with Norvelle, emphasizing their love and togetherness until his passing.
