SAN JOSE — Dunn-Edwards, a big paint retailer, will greatly widen its footprint in Northern California by adding 17 stores in the region, a welcome expansion poised to fill several former Kelly Moore Paints sites.
4156 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, a former Kelly Moore Paints location that Dunn-Edwards Paints has picked for a store site. The Dunn-Edwards move arrives in the wake of the abrupt shutdown of Kelly Moore Paints in January 2024, an implosion that terminated the retail business of Kelly Moore, which was founded in San Carlos in 1946.
“The sudden closure of Kelly Moore devastated hundreds of loyal employees and impacted painting professionals across the region,” said Monte Lewis, chief operating officer with Dunn-Edwards Corp.Real Estate |In addition, Dunn-Edwards is planning to open paint stores at former Kelly Moore retail locations in Santa Cruz and the Monterey County city of Seaside.
