Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran's red card in their Boxing Day defeat to Newcastle United has been upheld after an appeal by the club was rejected. Duran will now miss three matches.
Jhon Duran was sent off for violent conduct in Newcastle United 's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day. Duran received a red card in the 32nd minute after appearing to kick Fabian Schar in the back during a sliding challenge. Referee Anthony Taylor showed Duran a red card , which was upheld by VAR. Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was critical of the decision after the match, claiming that referee Taylor should not have shown Duran a red card .
Emery also said that Villa would appeal the three-game ban for violent conduct. However, the appeal was rejected, and Duran will now miss Villa's next three matches
