Duterte cites peace gains with Moros in Mindanao.
DAVAO CITY—Relative peace has been prevailing over Mindanao over the past several years since the remaining major Moro revolutionary organization entered into a final peace agreement with government in 2014 and expanding the autonomous region for Filipino Muslims.
He said government also added more soldiers to Jolo, Sulu, the hotbed of the Abu Sayyaf, a terror group aligned with the Middle East-based Isis group. He said one division of soldiers has been stationed in the island province. “And for the longest time, the region hasn’t had any kidnapping incident, as well as attacks on security forces or depredation victims,” Duterte added.
Militarily, the government has achieved its objectives in keeping the peace in Mindanao, he said, and emphasized that “if the equilibrium is maintained, the region will be trouble-free.” The Bangsamoro Information Office said the TPMT is an independent and volunteering entity created in 2013 to monitor the Bangsamoro peace process. It released its latest update on the GPH-MILF peace accords, particularly the CAB and FAB, including its Annexes.
