Mr Dutton said all Australians wanted to see Indigenous disadvantage reduced, citing violence and unrest in communities including Alice Springs and Ceduna in South Australia. It said there was “a lack of clarity about how the agreement fits” with constitutional recognition and the Voice to parliament, treaty processes in the states and territories and other regional structures.The Albanese government on Monday announced plans to return the annual Closing the Gap statement to February, after it was moved to August by former prime minister Scott Morrison.
