The Opposition Leader has described Paul Keating's treatment of a Sky News Australia journalist at the National Press Club 'repugnant', as he demanded the Albanese government call out the ex-prime minister's behaviour.
The ex-Labor leader made controversial comments about the Albanese government's AUKUS deal in which Australia will secure eight nuclear-powered submarines.
Sky News Australia Political Reporter Olivia Caisley had asked a question, with the former Labor leader saying it was"dumb" and"hardly worth an answer". What would be the point of China wanting to occupy Sydney and Melbourne militarily?
Liberal leader Peter Dutton said Mr Keating's actions, particularly towards Ms Caisley, should be condemned by the Albanese government. I think Mr Albanese should be providing a response or at least calling Mr Keating out for the treatment of particularly the female journalist."
“Instead, he attacked the likes of me, my press gallery colleagues, and even Defence Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong."Others who copped verbal lashings include the Sydney Morning Herald’s Matthew Knott over the paper’s Red Alert series, which foreshadowed the possibility of war with China in the region within three years.
