The DVLA has issued a warning to millions of drivers in the UK, as they could be slapped with a hefty fine for not updating four key documents in their car
Motorists are being cautioned that they must keep four documents in their car and up to date, or risk a hefty £1,000 fine from the DVLA. In addition to ensuring your driving licence details are current, there are three other documents drivers need to be aware of.
They further clarified: "The DVLA's requirement to update address information extends beyond just your driving licence; it includes your vehicle log book, direct debit for vehicle tax, and private number plate documents. Failing to update these details can lead to significant fines of up to £1,000, making it crucial for all drivers to be vigilant about keeping their information current.
Motorists are being urged to remember that a postal application is required for a name change. They must also update their address on the vehicle log book , adjust their vehicle tax Direct Debit if needed, and alter details on their personalised registration document if they have one, according to Birmingham Live, reports the Mirror.
