The DVLA has issued a crucial warning to all UK drivers who are 70 years old, urging them to renew their driving licences or risk facing a fine. Upon reaching 70, your licence expires, but this doesn't mean you have to give up driving; you simply need to renew it and then do so every three years thereafter.
Age Concern highlighted the importance of making a health declaration when renewing your licence at 70, noting that while there's no need to retake your test, those with health conditions or disabilities might need an assessment of their driving ability. Age UK advised: "If you have a photocard licence, fill in the D46P form and return it to the DVLA with your current driving licence photocard. You may also need to include a new passport-type photo the form will tell you if so.", reports Birmingham Live.
