The practical test site will close months after the theory test site was shut down
Blackpool's driving test centre will close down in March, six months after the theory test site shut down.
Learner drivers will be sent to Kirkham to complete their practical tests when the centre on Warbreck Hill Road closes down on March 30. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is responsible for administering tests and today confirmed the closure. The agency said that the closure had been enforced upon it by the landlord and that it is searching for a new permanent site to relocate to in Blackpool. In September, the town's theory test site was closed down, with learners instead asked to travel to Preston. At the same time, theory test sites in Wigan and Southport were also closed.Peter Hearn, DVSA’s director of operations, said: “DVSA’s priority is to help everyone through a lifetime of safe driving.
“Driving tests will temporarily move to Kirkham after March, but DVSA is committed to finding a new permanent site for a driving test centre in Blackpool."
