Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment recipients are being cautioned that failing to inform the Department for Work and Pensions about any overseas travel could put at risk their benefits. This includes reporting "any past, present or future visits" to foreign countries.
In certain circumstances, such as the death of a close relative abroad, it may be possible to have an additional month away if returning earlier is deemed unreasonable. For individuals undergoing medical treatment or recovering from an illness, a six-month period abroad is allowed.
