Alba Party MP Neale Hanvey put the query to DWP boss Mel Stride.
Parliament is due back from summer recess on Monday, September 4, however, before the break, Alba Party MP Neale Hanvey asked Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Mel Stride MP, if he had “plans to provide additional financial support to women born in the 1950s who have been affected by changes in the State Pension age”.
Ms Trott also highlighted how the UK Government is “committed to delivering a comprehensive package of support to help older workers to remain and return to work”.In a separate question, Mr Hanvey also asked if there had been recent discussions with relevant stakeholders on pensions for women born in the 1950s.
The North Ayrshire and Arran MP is also urging the UK Government to “respond promptly” to the findings from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s report into the way the changes to the State Pension age were communicated. The WASPI campaign was formed to help millions of women get ‘fair and fast compensation’ after some of the worst affected were only given a few months’ notice of a six-year delay to their eligibility for the State Pension.
