First DWP £301 cost of living payment deadline this week - what to do if you haven't received yours

The first payment worth £301 from the Department for Work and Pensions will continue to be issued to eligible claimants until the deadline hits this week. All eligible claimants should have received their payment by Wednesday, May 17.

If you haven't received the payment by this date but were expecting it then there are a few things you should do. Firstly, if you receive benefit payments from Tax Credits only and no other low-income benefits such as Universal Credit, then you should have already gotten your first payment from HMRC on May 9 - if not then contact HMRC as soon as possible as there may have been a mistake.

However, once the deadline has passed and you still haven't received your money despite expecting it, then you should contact the government department in charge of your benefit payment. The cost of living payment is paid automatically so if you haven't yet received it it could be down to a technological or system error.

It's important to note that if you receive a text, email, or phone call regarding your cost of living payment that asks for your personal details to not respond as the government warns this is a scam. If you have received one of these emails you should report it to [email protected] - for text messages, forward it to 7726 for free.
