Fraud and error in the benefit system is falling as the UK Government restated its determination to drive levels down further and protect taxpayers’ money, according to the latest official figures released by the Department for Work and Pensions

. In the last year, fraud and error rates in 2023 fell to 3.6% from 4.0% , with Universal Credit losses decreasing from 14.7% to 12.8% .

The Twitter post warns: “Be fraud aware and protect your personal details at all times. Your information could be used by criminals to commit benefit and other fraud.” In one example of fraud, analysts noticed that the same lime green door appeared in photos offered by a number of claimants seeking to prove that they lived in the UK.
