The DWP is set to start applying the new PIP pay levels from next week as it has issued a full list of the amounts and dates for 2024
The Department for Work and Pensions has unveiled the modified rates for the Personal Independence Payment for 2024, accompanied by a complete list of amounts and dates. Amid a surge in "unprecedented levels of new claims" in recent months, the DWP is poised to introduce the new PIP payment rates from next week.
To combat the increasing cost of living, the DWP has declared a 6.7 per cent hike in PIP benefits, ushering in a new top monthly payment of £737.20 for those who qualify for the highest level of support. This amounts to an annual total of over £9,500, provided tax-free and not subject to personal circumstances like income or savings.
Many members of the BirminghamLive's Facebook Cost of Living group have been questioning why their PIP hasn't yet gone up, as Housing Benefit and council tax rises all start from the first of April. However, there will be delays to the new rates being implemented as is explained below, reports Birmingham Live.
Those receiving PIP before this won't receive the increase - or at least not the full amount. Some will get a mix of old and new rates initially until their next payment date is four complete weeks after April 8.
