The Chancellor is set to deliver the first Budget under the new Labour Government and has hinted at potential changes to the benefits and pensions system
Chancellor Rachel Reeves is set to deliver the first Budget under the new Labour Government next month, with an Autumn statement scheduled for October 30. Reeves has cautioned that it will involve "tough decisions" but has promised there will be "no return to austerity".
For benefits like jobseeker's allowance, universal credit, and pension credit, claimants can expect direct deposits into their accounts. The Government website indicates that payment dates typically follow a regular pattern. However, if your usual payment date falls on a weekend or a bank holiday, you'll receive your benefit on the preceding workday though tax credits and child benefit may differ.
Should a benefit payment not arrive when expected, the Department for Work and Pensions suggests verifying the date on your award notice and bank account. If everything aligns but the payment is missing, claimants should head to gov.uk/contact-jobcentre-plus/existing-benefit-claims to get in touch with the appropriate department.
