The DWP has confirmed that the next benefit payment rise will be 1.7 per cent from April 2025
The Department for Work and Pensions has unveiled four impending changes to Universal Credit, as part of a hefty £240 million package from the Get Britain Working White Paper designed to pivot the focus from welfare towards employment. The newly instated Labour government confirmed that benefits will see a 1.7% uplift come April 2025.
Benefits are set to rise by 1.7% starting from April 2025, as confirmed by the government. Following the annual review of State Pension and benefit rates by the Secretary of State, there will be a 4.1% increase in both basic and new State Pensions, in line with the Triple Lock commitment. Regarding payment dates, it's noteworthy that bank holidays in April might affect the timing of benefit payments. Should your benefit due date coincide with a bank holiday, you can typically expect to receive it on the preceding working day.
Highlighting the significance of the recent budget, Kendall observed: "This Budget shows the first steps in our plan to drive up opportunity and drive down poverty in every corner of the country. There is still much more to do, but this Budget has shown change has begun."
