The State Pension is usually paid every four weeks, but there is a way to get it paid weekly
People who are claiming the new State Pension are now receiving up to £884 per month, following the 8.5 per cent boost announced in the Spring Budget. Likewise, basic State Pension s claimants are now earning £678 over the same period - but millions of pensioners are unaware that they could receive their money on a weekly basis.
A former employee with 42 years experience working for the DWP has shared the simple way to make the change, whether you are due to retire and claim the State Pension, or are already in receipt of New or Basic payments, reports the Daily Record. The main thing to be aware of is that the frequency can only be changed if the payments have already been set up to be made into a bank account.
"Alternatively write to The Pension Service, Post Handling Site A, Wolverhampton WV98 1AF, with your name address and National Insurance number and ask to be changed to weekly payment for your State Pension." The DWP insider also said the four-weekly pay frequency may make it difficult to budget for household bills as it's not paid monthly, especially if someone has been used to being paid their salary at the end of each month.
