Millions of women have now been awaiting payouts for some seven months
Millions of women born in the 1950s have been left in limbo since March 21, awaiting a response from successive UK Governments to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman's final report. The PHSO concluded that the Department for Work and Pensions committed 'maladministration' by not adequately informing women about the rise in State Pension age from 60 to 65, and then to 66.
During the Business of the House session in Parliament this week, Labour MP Jonathan Hinder passionately appealed to his own party and urged the Government to provide "clarity on compensation" as recommended by the PHSO in its report. He also called for MPs to be given the chance to debate the findings and subsequent steps.
The matter of a response was also brought up in written questions to the DWP, which were answered on Thursday.
