A staggering £1.7 billion is waiting to be claimed by 850,000 state pensioners from the Department for Work and Pensions , yet many are failing to claim their entitled Pension Credit. This benefit could provide over £3,900 per year to those eligible.
It was revealed that over 10 million pensioners would miss out on the 2024 winter fuel payment as it was only being distributed to those already receiving pension credit or other forms of financial aid. The deadline to apply for Pension Credit, and thus qualify for the winter fuel payment, was 11.59pm on December 21.
The finance expert shared that many think they may not qualify for various reasons but encouraged that it's still worth a check. She said: " Pension Credit claimants are being urged to verify if they are eligible for the unclaimed cash. Despite some believing they may not qualify for various reasons, the finance expert encouraged that it's still worth checking. , reports the Express.
