Thousands of households could be able to claim up to £550 from the DWP in December
State pensioners born before 1953 could receive up to £550 from the Department for Work and Pensions this December. The DWP offers additional financial support during the winter months, including a £300 Winter Fuel Payment, a Warm Homes Discount worth £150, and Cold Weather Payments of £25 per week.
If you're due a payment, it will appear in your bank within 14 days with the reference starting with your National Insurance number followed by 'DWP CWP'. Pensioners born before 1953 may also qualify for the Warm Home Discount scheme, which provides a £150 reduction on your electricity bill. Furthermore, pensioners claiming Pension Credit will also qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment, which can be worth up to £300. If you're not already receiving Pension Credit, you have until December 21 to submit a claim to receive both backdated Pension Credit and your Winter Fuel Payment.
