The DWP says it will save £150m by speeding up the processing of new and existing claims - and it may mean your PIP payments are stopped
People claiming Personal Independence Payment are seeing their cash payments reduced or even halted as the Department for Work and Pensions steps up the number of reviews.
Official government documents regarding the additional funding note: "Award reviews can lead to a reduction in award amounts as some claimants' conditions can improve over time." There are currently over 3.5 million individuals in the UK who benefit from the Personal Independence Payment , designed to offset additional expenses linked with long-standing health conditions or disabilities, with awards reaching up to £737 every four weeks. Following the previous government's announcement of a major overhaul that proposed replacing cash payments with vouchers, Labour has pledged to introduce fresh social security reforms.
A statement from the DWP detailed: "PIP claimants may undergo an award review during the period whilst they have entitlement to PIP. There are two types of award review:
