The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will this week decide who in the UK is set to receive the Winter Fuel Payment, worth up to £300, this year - and it will be based on your benefits
As the weather gets nippier in the coming months and the heating gets cranked up, many worry about their fuel bills. And the Department for Work and Pensions is set to decide this week who will be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment, which could be worth up to £300. Previously, anyone above state pension age would receive the Winter Fuel Payments, but now only those on means-tested benefits including Pension Credit will qualify.
However, if you lived in a care home for the entire duration from June 24 to September 22, 2024, you won't be entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment. You can still qualify if your stay in a care home is temporary, less than 13 weeks by the end of the qualifying period.
