EA has turned down plans for an Alice: Madness Returns sequel, and the game's creator is now leaving game development...
), provisionally called Alice: Asylum. McGee had spent the last few years putting together a design bible for the game, which was funded by and uploaded for Patreon supporters, but following EA's dismissal of the project, the page will now be 'hibernated.'
"After several weeks of review, EA has come back with a response regarding funding and/or licensing for Alice: Asylum," the post reads."On the question of funding, they have ultimately decided to pass on the project based on an internal analysis of the IP, market conditions, and details of the production proposal.
Following the unfortunate news, American McGee has said that he's finished with"Alice and game dev in general" and will instead focus on family business, which creates some cool rabbit plushies and Alice-inspired artwork reminiscent of the dev's dark style.
